About Robyn

Robyn Meurkson is a former fellow civic reporter with City Bureau. From a young age, she has carried a passion for writing and telling stories that serve the public interest. Over the course of her career, Robyn has developed a versatile range of skills spanning from professional writing to technical writing . As an emerging journalist, Robyn's reporting has covered a wide-range of social justice and humanitarian issues, including Chicago’s Youth Designers Are Stitching a New and Creative Economy, How A Chicago Artist Uses Murals To Capture A Community's Legacy,  and DNC, Past and Present: How Chicagoans Compare 1968 and 2024 Conventions, among many others.

Outside of journalism, Robyn enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and blogging. She is currently an active member of the Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ), Chicago Journalism Association (CJA), the Native American Journalism Association (NAJA), and the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). She has recently earned a professional writing certification from College of DuPage, and aspires to become a future technical communications specialist, while continuing to pursue her passion for freelance journalism.
